Describe your work at WVU in three words.
Global is local.
How do you define leadership?
Leadership is looking both within and beyond ourselves to make change happen. It's
a continual process that promotes respect and humility, welcomes different perspectives,
and supports growth through change. Good leaders model self-awareness and don't
compromise when it comes to values.
What motivates you to get up and go to work each day?
In a word, people. Our work in the Health Sciences Global Engagement Office is
focused on promoting better health through international connection. Knowing
that on the other end of my calls, emails, and meetings on any given day there
are talented and caring people showing up to make the world a better place, well,
that keeps me going.
Where did you attend undergrad/graduate school?
I received a BA in History and Political Science from Guilford College in 2003
and an MS in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution from Creighton University in
2014.
What is your favorite place to travel/visit? or If you could visit anywhere, where
would you go?
Throughout the past few months, my family has rediscovered our love for the outdoors.
Trails throughout Monongahela National Forest have long been special to me, especially
Gaudineer Scenic Area between Randolph and Pocahontas Counties. When it is safe
for us to travel again, we hope to visit other national parks out west, including
Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
What is your name, unit, and position?
