Describe your work at WVU in three words.
Research, Teaching, Mentoring.
What motivated you to go to work each day?
My laboratory is my playground. I do not get up and go to work every day, through research I get up to ask new questions, perform exciting experiments, and train the next generation of scientists to impact people’s lives.
What are three traits that define you?
Perseverance (aka hard-headed), patience, and go-get-it done!
Where did you attend undergrad/graduate school?
WVU – RBA 2013; WVU – MA (just started).
Where did you attend undergrad/graduate school?
Undergrad: Universite d'Auvergne (France) and Robert Gordon University (Scotland)
Grad: Universitat de Barcelona (MS - Spain) and Universitat de les Illes Balears (MS and PhD - Spain)
What is the last book you’ve read? How would you rate it? (1-5 stars)
Spillover by David Quammen. This is a fascinating read on the transition of infectious agents from animals to humans and their implications for infectious diseases and pandemics. Five stars as it perfectly combines science, suspense, facts, and a riveting discussion on the future of infection control and the impact of mankind on the world around us. It is also very timely with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
